Bodywork is More than Massage Therapy
Quality you deserve.
A deep understanding of how the central nervous system orchestrates the movement of the parts of your body is necessary to overcome many of the physical challenges we face as a people today.
Let me help you reduce your pain, increase your range of motion and increase mobility and balance.
Bodywork is a collection of advanced techniques, including massage techniques, designed to assess then improve the way your body works.
The addition of assessment tools, advanced soft tissue and orthopedic modalities, a deep understanding of the central nervous system and a strong structure to determine frequency, length and
direction of treatment is what separates massage and bodywork.
Bodywork aims to improve acute and chronic physical ailments and injuries that commonly present in the form of pain, reduced range of motion, limitations to mobility, balance, or lack of function.
Who Could Benefit from Bodywork?
Bodywork treatment can truly be for everyone, not just those suffering
from traumatic events like sprains and strains, sports injuries, motor vehicle accidents, or those recovering from orthopedic surgeries.
Symptoms such as chronic headaches, chronic neck pain, chronic upper or lower back pain or issues of range of motion and mobility, balance or movement dysfunction are common indicators that bodywork could help.
However, healthy clients, many of whom have gone through bodywork treatment, continue using bodywork sessions to stay healthy and continue improving functional movement, ROM, balance, speed and strength while limiting pain. Gaining a greater understanding of how their body works is another common side effect of bodywork.

Common Physical Issues That Bodywork Serves
You do not need a specific diagnosis for bodywork to be helpful. Oftentimes, my clients express a general dissatisfaction related to their general quality of life caused by pain or an inability to use their body.
However, there are a few easily identified diagnoses that commonly benefit from bodywork, including commonly named disorders like Frozen Shoulder Syndrome, Upper Crossed Syndrome, plantar fasciitis, sciatica, shin splints, muscle cramping, numbness or tingling in the extremities, tennis or golfers elbow, tendonitis, and sprains and strains.
Frozen Shoulder Syndrome ( FSS ) is also known as adhesive capsulitis and involves stiffness and pain in the shoulder joint that results in significant reduction of range of motion in the affected shoulder.
Upper Crossed Syndrome ( UCS ) is a distortion of the upper body posture that is commonly caused by extended work at a desk. It is evidenced by shoulders that are pulled forward and rounded, neck and is pulled forward and a backward flexed head. It can result in a constellation of painful issues with the neck, upper back and shoulders.
Common Bodywork Techniques You May Hear About
Techniques commonly associated with bodywork as a discipline include active release technique ( ART ), selective functional movement assessment ( SFMA ), and active isolated stretching ( AIS ). Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, and joint or nerve mobilization.
Selective Functional Movement Assessment ( SFMA ) is an assessment tool that is designed to tease out issues of mobility, joint stability and causes of chronic pain.
Active Release Technique ( ART ) is the gold standard in non-invasive, soft-tissue and nerve treatment, including treatment of strains, sprains, nerve entrapments and other musculoskeletal disorders.
Active Isolated Stretching ( AIS ) is a guided stretching regimen that employs reflexes of the nervous system in order to create a deeper and longer lasting range of motion from stretching.
